Procedure To Remove The Ask Toolbar

A toolbar is usually used to enhance the internet search productivity. Normal web browser toolbars are glued to the Internet search function of your browser. There are many toolbars available, some pretty useful, while some very irritating. In this article, we will see what Ask toolbar is and how to remove it. The Ask Toolbar is actually a search toolbar that installs at the top of your web browser, allowing you to search the Internet directly from the toolbar.

This is useful and convenient, as you need not go to the original site instead of visiting the “Ask.com” website. Unfortunately, many times users install the Ask Toolbar on their browser unintentionally. It is mostly because it comes packaged with many programs. You can remove the “Ask Toolbar” from your browser in Windows XP, whether you use Internet Explorer or Firefox, by uninstalling the associated Ask Toolbar program in Internet Explorer or the add-on in Firefox. Here are the Ask toolbar removal steps.

Internet Explorer
  • At first, you need to exit Internet Explorer, if it is already open.
  • Then you need to click on the "Start" button. You will be able to locate the “Start” button on the lower left corner of your desktop screen. After that, you need to select "Control Panel." The Control Panel window will appear.
  • Then you need to double-click "Add or Remove Programs." A list of all installed programs will appear. Allow the list to populate; this may take a few seconds.
  • Then, scroll through the list of programs currently installed on your computer and locate the "Ask Toolbar." Look for the "Ask" logo if you are having any trouble finding the toolbar.
  • After that, you need to click on the "Ask Toolbar" and then click "Change/Remove." The computer will remove the Ask Toolbar. Then you need to restart your computer after you have uninstalled the toolbar. Then you can open Internet Explorer to make sure that the Ask Toolbar is no longer present.
